More evidence of northampton county screwups

Beyond this I looked at further extreme over and under reporting and found these example I think the levels of under and over reporting in some of these races is far too high and I find the we didn't find any problems explanation the Northampton county board made to the newspaper shameful http://www.mcall.com/news/local/allentown/
all-b1-3vote-5rnov16,0,6199763.story?coll=all-newslocalallentown-hed
But from the Stories I've heard of what goes on in the Northampton county board of election this does not surprise me in the least.

  • Lets see lets make a comparative between Northampton county Lehigh.

You call the Northampton board of elections for voters info you get
Give us the money now it will take at least a week or whenever we feel like getting it you. When you get it it's not what you ask and when you go back to tell them about it takes them weeks to fix it. Handled in a very rude manor

Lehigh you call them with in a number of hours you have exactly what you wanted and if you didn't it's immediately fix. In a nice and professional manor.

Lehigh the voting districts look like they were drawn in a thoughtful way.

Northampton the voting districts look like they were drawn by that stoned spider in the anti-drug films in school.

Lehigh County the voters break the machines

Northampton the poll workers can't even start up the machines and when they do they break a certain percentage of time it takes them a ton of time to fix them.

    I could go on

  • well... it took Voter Registration over 6 weeks to come up with an unofficial total for the primary write-in races - which was part of the reason that state candidates were not officially certified until mid-August - effectively shutting them out of many of the state level endorsements (you should talk to Shade about that).

nobody in Voter Registration, the Election Board, or the GIS guy know what each district's boundaries are. Call them--- ask them for district maps--- it's a freaking riot!

Some voters in rural districts have been assigned to the wrong polling places.

    How's that for a start?

Obtaining voter files from Lehigh County requires a telephone call - results are provided the same day - usually within hours.

In Northampton County one must fill out a form and then return a second time - a day or more later - to get the file.

Debbie DePaul acts as though any criticism of the voting machines is a personal attack on her.

Then there's all the stuff YOU mentioned, Bernie.

And there's even more - but I suspect Mr. Stoffa is aware of what is going on.

  • Demothug & GreenDog, Your comments are quite informative. I was aware of problems like those I've pointed out on my blog, and I think those are serious. I also have some research about the software system that scares the hell out of me. But you fellows are describing different and other serious problems. I had no idea the office was so difficult, especially in comparison to LC. And I have an email from Debbie DePaul that I really should publish. I'm sure John Stoffa has been made aware of at least some of these problems. But I would like to see some changes made BEFORE the next election and will start putting all these concerns together along with some recommendations. Thanks for your sad, but detailed, answers.
