  • Your pretty tough on them for this race. If she had lost by 25,000 votes, I'd agree that it was a blunder, However you have to play in such a tight seat.

The flip side is that I would have loved it if we had that money for Dertinger.

  • I've been ask on numerous occasions by numerous people why Charles Dertinger, and candidates for State house and state senate seats couldn't raise money in the valley if this is just a sampling of what was being blundered from the valley by other campaigns this may explain why there was no money in the valley and no one to go to for it as I've said before to people the valley has a finite number of people willing to donate a finite number of dollars and when outsider come in and take it there is nothing for us.

  • So your saying what? They shouldn't have given to her? C'mon it was a tier one race, that sounds a bit bitter. None of the candidates who didn't win here were supposed to. Things went how they should.

  • Tier one tier 2 tier 10 I don't care they should not be coming into other people's districts and fund raising when the local candidate can't get money themselves there are plenty of very Rich donors they could have solicited in her district they didn't.

  • No other congressional candidate did this as badly in the Lehigh Valley as Louis Murphy not Partick Murphy not Sestak, not anyone else.

in fact no other candidate took more 3 k out this district other than her. It
doesn't seem to be because she was better at it but because the other candidates seem to have more respect for candidates in low fund raising districts

  • we're talking "plundered" aren't we?

  • I guess I'm becoming dyslexic

  • No it was smart of her to. If they'll sign the checks, their not a convict, and not a liability, there is no reason to not fundraise from them. There's no such thing as "turf" in fundraising. You have to hold your own, if you can't, your not legitimate. That's how we tell the contenders from the pretenders. It's rough, brutal in fact, but not a bad thing.

  • yep there's no honor among thieves

  • All of these people that you listed donated to tons of candidates over the years. They all have one thing in common: they invest in campaigns. They don't give to campaigns they aren't convinced will win. It becomes the candidate's job to show that they are winners. These people also invest in high profile races. State house races aren't sexy enough for them unless they know the incumbent or one of the candidates personally.

Lack of funds wasn't the issue here. These people could have coughed up 2k for each Democrat in the Valley. Why didn't they? B/c they didn't think it would make a difference.

You can't blame Lois Murphy for that.

  • LVDem is right. I asked some on that list for help, only one gave. I was told more than once that people felt donating to me was throwing money away against Reichley. The truth hurts, but it is the truth.

  • scratches head? Topic was about Pa 15th congressional district not state house candidates

By Blogger Greendogdem, at 8:29 PM

  • same can be said about the 15th as for the state house races. Dertinger was doomed from the get go. I don't think he could have ever cleared 46%. It would have been a silly investment.
